Korea’s YG Entertainment Partners with China’s Youku

(Korea Star Daily, 25 Jul, 2013) YG Entertainment representative, Yang Min Suk, was in China on July 24th where he inked an agreement with representatives of Samsung Electronics China and Youku to launch ‘YG Family Channel’ on China’s biggest video hosting website, Youku.

‘YG Family Channel’ marks the first venture undertaken by both YG Entertainment and Samsung Electronics China in Mainland China. Samsung Electronics will be the official sponsor of YG’s official channel, and this strategic Korean Wave marketing will strengthen promotions and services that targets the youths residing in China.

Yang Min Suk said in Mandarin during his speech, “We had lots of opportunities in China for the past 10 years, but met with many difficulties. YG Entertainment has finally come together with Samsung Electronics and Youku to create a huge venture this time round, and this gives me a different feeling. Through ‘YG Family Channel’ on Youku, we will offer the best in Korean entertainment and do our best to serve as a bridge between Korea, China, and the rest of Asia.”

Yang Min Suk who addressed the Chinese fans as ‘Pengyou’ (means friends in Chinese) also said, “YG Entertainment is embarking on an enjoyable trip in China. We will go to every part of China and every beautiful corner to meet up with our YG friends.”

Fans will not only be able to view music videos and interviews of YG artistes like Big Bang, 2NE1, PSY and others through ‘YG Family Channel’ on Youku, but also making of films and Big Bang’s world tour documentaries as well.

‘YG Family Channel’ was officially commissioned and launched at 7PM (KST) on July 24th.
